learn to row with us!
At Putney Town we are proud to put on one hell of a Learn to Row course.
You'll be part of a six week intensive learning course where you will go from never picking up a blade, to racing down the Thames in our annual end of course finale!
You'll be introduced to our club through the course and coaches as well as our volunteers from other squads who help the course run. You will also have access to our Club Nights, Gym & Bar as well as a great social scene.
Register to come along to our Open Evening!
4th or 5th Sept 2024

What to expect

This course typically runs for 6-7 weeks with both on the water and land based sessions.
The schedule consists of two sessions on the water, with a break in between.
Land training is usually a midweek evening and is usually held in our PTRC hall.

Last year we used tank sessions (an indoor type of boat) to complement the training schedule.
We teach the basics of rowing & erging - with the expectation that course graduates will be capable of joining our Development squads at the end of the course to continue their rowing careers.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS

We ask that participants have an average level of fitness and are used to working out once or twice per week. You will be required to carry eight and fours boats with your team mates.

This will involve lifting boats on and off racks and carry them down our steps down to the water. Please take a few moments to watch the following video.
