London Youth Games – results

Whilst the Olympians were battling it out at Henley Royal Regatta this weekend, back at home it was the London Youth games.

Nine young athletes from year 7 to 11 who either go to school or live in Richmond borough were entered into the games and Anthony Cake from Putney Town helped with managing and coaching the team. He writes:-

“This year we came joint fifth out of 32 boroughs, which was very good considering we only a team of 9 instead of 10 – we where the highest placed none full team. This year the indoor rowing was the last event of the games and due to the teams performance Richmond achieved it’s highest overall result finishing 5th out of all the London boroughs for which we received the Trophy for most improved Borough (see photo). The indoor rowing team had to go through a series of trials one of which was run by [PTRC president] John Comer and then the final squad had a training session at Putney Town RC. If we had a full team we definitely would have been in the medals.”
