by Ian on Jan.10, 2011, under Events, News, Vets
On Saturday 19th February, the inaugural President’s Dinner for Veteran’s will be held from 6pm until late.
There will be a curry from the Munal in Sheen, guest beers on the bar and a disco run by a club DJ (who will have hopefully updated their record collection since the 70s).
If you are interested in attending, please contact Ron Eggleton or John Comer (the President) so that they have an idea of numbers:
- Ron - tubpair@blueyonder.co.uk
- John - john.comer@hotmail.co.uk
In addition there are plans for a raffle so if you have any unwanted booze, gifts or other contraband you would like to donate please pass it on to John, Ron or any of the committee.

The various different squads will be holding their season kick-off meetings in the coming few days, to discuss the coming season, aims and ambition and to postpone doing an ergo for one more evening.
The meeting is for all those returning from the summer break, and we welcome all experienced rowers who are choosing a London based rowing club to attend or are considering trying out another club. We have active groups for all levels of rowing (including an active veteran men’s group) so you are sure to find one group suits your level.

- Men – both senior men and intermediate men: 8pm Tuesday 14th September
- Senior Women: 8pm Wednesday 15th September (7:15 for existing club members)
- Intermediate Women: 8pm Monday 20th September
- Veteran Men: Sunday 19th September at 12:30pm

Pairs Head 2009 - Results
by Ian on Oct.28, 2009, under Men, News, Results, Scullers, Squads, Vets, Women
Putney Town had a good turnout for the race that is for many the first significant race of the Head season.
The weather before the race had looked like truly epic head weather, with the wind whipping up the water and some predicting some involuntary swimming sessions. However, the tide turned and things calmed down a lot much to the relief of all the participants.
The club was well represented and had some good results:-

Veterans Head 2009 — Results
by Ian on Apr.02, 2009, under News, Vets
The vets got their chance to flex their muscles and demonstrate their mettle a day after the men’s head of the river race in the Veterans Head with weather that continued to be fine from the HoRR the day before.
In the very last head race of the season, three crews were entered from Putney Town. The first boat to pass under Chiswick Bridge was the ‘old timers’ crew. Losing out in the lottery for the chance to race in the HoRR the day before, the squad was racing in the very competitive category ‘A’ (average age 27+) and comprised many former men’s squad regulars who probably wouldn’t normally be associated with the reading glasses generation.
