Announcement: Peter Hardcastle joins as Head Women’s Coach
We are delighted to announce that Peter Hardcastle will be the new Women’s Head Coach at Putney Town for the 2017/18 season. Peter joins us from London Rowing Club, where he has been the Chief Coach for 2014/2015 to 2016/17 seasons.
Before London, Peter had a successful few years coaching at Emanuel School, which saw him qualify crews into Henley Royal Regatta for the first time in over 20 years. He also helped progress athletes into GB Junior squads and Coupe teams, in addition to being selected to coach at the Coupe in 2014. Before Peter started his coaching career in 2008, he competed at 3 Olympic Games and picked up silverware across all sculling boat classes on the international stage.
Since his retirement from competitive rowing, Peter has continued his sporting drive into competitive Ironman racing which saw him participate in the Ironman world championships last year in Hawaii.
Peter replaces last season’s coach, Jamie Croly, who is leaving the club to pursue a coaching position back in his home country of South Africa. The club would like to thank Jamie for all of his hard work and dedication that made 2016/17 such a successful season, seeing wins at Nottingham, Met and Reading Regattas. He’s taken the squad up to the next level and left us in such a promising position for the start of this season.
Welcome to Putney Town, Peter!
The women’s squad are holding their season starter meeting this coming Saturday, 9th September at 1pm. All experienced rowers and coxes welcome.
