Putney Town Rowing Club

The bar at Putney Town has seen a lot of crews demolished in its time, but this weekend it was the bar itself that was getting “hammered”. A team of PTRC volunteers kindly gave up their time to hammer, hack and shovel in order to extend the bar area into the former committee room aka “the snug”. The growing popularity of the social functions run by the club have meant that the bar area has been in need of extension for some time. Once the bar work is completed, highlights of the PTRC social calendar such as the annual dinner dance will be better than ever. Furthermore, the club is now better equipped to cater for those who wish to hire the club for other events. The next stage is to build a staircase to the area above the bar.

It all adds up to good news for thirsty rowers and guests alike. The bar should be back in business with in the next week although the project will not be fully completed for a few weeks after that. The committee greatly appreciates the patience of club members while the work is being carried out. The end result will be worth it!
