Ben Melham next to... Ben Melham!

Ben Melham next to... Ben Melham!

On Saturday was the club summer BBQ and boat naming, attended by many of the club. We were lucky enough to have a period of sunshine whilst a number of boats were named, and local councillors attended the ceremony. The boats named were: -

Martyn Silvester: men’s Empacher coxless four
Sheena Craig: women’s IRS coxless four
Ben Melham: men’s IRS coxless four
Lucy Brennan: women’s Janousek pair
Brian Day: men’s Janousek pair
John Wood, Tony Allen and Peter Hilditch: club singes

It was very nice to be able to remember Martyn at the ceremony, and members of his family were able to raise a toast to him and put his last bottle of Sloe gin to good use. The event was covered by Richmond & Twickenham times Rowers name new boats during special ceremony.

The Summer BBQ followed and was spent dodging the showers but a good time was had by all.
